DWQA QuestionsCategory: QuestionsEVs economical or not?
Veenu Parekh asked 9 months ago

I have heard that although Electric vehicles are more expensive to buy when compared to gasoline powered cars, their operation cost is lower. If this is true, taking a typical example of cars with similar profiles of both types, how many kilometres on average do we have to travel everyday to make the EV more economical?

According to most estimates, the running cost of an electric vehicle is around 15% that of a regular vehicle. This is without taking into account the maintenance fee that is saved on driving an electric vehicle. Answering how many kilometres one needs to drive per day to make an EV cheaper is very difficult as it depends on various factors such as the cars and company, mileage, cost difference etc.
